The problem, though, is that because Dragon Ball Super didn’t make any updates during its run, whatever changes Super Hero makes will have to be quite drastic. With that in mind, it’s hard to imagine Super Hero not introducing new looks for these characters. Concept art for Pan is indicative of a three or four-year Dragon Ball Super time jump, which should put Goten and Trunks near the end of their high school years. When Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero rolls around, updating them will become a must for the anime. He was a good bit taller and more mature than Goten and Trunks are as a 13- and 14-year-old. It’s certainly odd that they seem much younger than the 11-year-old Gohan who saved the world from Perfect Cell in Dragon Ball Z. They’re still kids of course, but they should carry some characteristics that reflect their current age. Obviously, both characters should have experienced some physical growth and perhaps some degree of maturity. The problem is that the teenage Goten and Trunks still act and look the way they did when they were 7 and 8 years old in Dragon Ball Z. By the time the anime ended, they would have been 13 and 14. In other words, the two half-Saiyans would be 11 and 12 respectively. It’s important to note that four years passed between the ending of the Buu Saga and the beginning of Dragon Ball Super. However, the anime made no changes to either character, nor has it made any noticeable adjustments to their power levels. It creates a disparity between the visuals and characterization that will only continue to be more distracting.Īfter the time skip that followed the conclusion of the Cell Saga, 7-year-old Goten and 8-year-old Trunks were introduced as main characters. Though they had older, teenage appearances in Dragon Ball GT, how they look now are the only designs they’ve had in Dragon Ball canon, with the sole exception of Baby Trunks in the Cell Saga.
